Visit the George Washington Pop-Up Museum

Between October 19-22 we hosted a Pop-Up Museum to provide visitors with the opportunity to learn more about Centralia’s founders, George and Mary Jane Washington. Due to demand, we will continue to make this museum available, by an appointment, for the next few weeks. If you are interested, stop by Hubbub, located in the historic Wilson Hotel in downtown Centralia.

The museum features a timeline of George Washington’s life, including details from his trip from Virginia to Washington, how he met and married Mary Jane, his founding of the town and how he saved so many families during the bad times. Learn more about how this amazing pioneer overcame racial discrimination laws and the politics of his time to found a town that would persevere to this day.

Location: 328 N Tower Ave. Centralia, WA

The exhibit is free of charge and any donations will go towards the statue in Washington Park. The museum is sponsored by the Centralia Downtown Association and the Lewis County Historical Museum in space donated by Rebecca Staebler, owner of Hubbub.
